About
“Extraordinary”—The Independent“A debut album of beauty and vigor.”—Sunday Times“Full of hard-won wisdom that belie his age…He’ll make listening to acoustic folk-tinged music feel like the first time.” —The Guardian
Every Kingdom, the debut album from the praised rising British artist Ben Howard, will be released stateside April 3 on the taste-making independent label Communion Records (brainchild of Mumford and Sons’ Ben Lovett). Every Kingdom debuted Top 10 on the U.K. charts where it has now gone Gold. The young acoustic singer-songwriter, whose live performances have resulted in back to back sell-out tours to a rapidly growing fanbase throughout the U.K. and the rest of Europe, will support the new release with a U.S. tour this spring. Howard will perform for the first time in the U.S. at South by Southwest and continue on the festival circuit with shows at The Sasquatch! Music Festival and Bonnaroo. Additionally he will headline a show at The Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Howard’s initial success was predominantly buoyed by the incredibly supportive European surf community, so he is also excited to perform dates on the West coast for the very first time. Full tour details below.Every Kingdom was recorded in a converted barn nestled between the countryside and the sea. It turned out darker in its lyrical content than he imagined it would. The album has received high praise from the British press and influential stations such as BBC Radio1. With a recent feature in NYLON Guys, spins on KCRW, and the song “Promise” on the hit Fox television series “House,” it looks like his fortunes are set to continue in the U.S. The stunning video for Howard’s first single “Old Pine” can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzzCthKw_C0.
