Formed in 1981 by Stuart Adamson, Bruce Watson, Tony Butler and Mark Brzezicki, Big Country broke through with their 1983 debut album The Crossing and the single "In a Big Country." The band reached international chart success in the 1980s and worked with producer Steve Lillywhite. Frontman Stuart Adamson died in 2001; the band has since continued in varying lineups and under the management/oversight of original members and the Adamson estate.
