Much like his circle of influence, King James’ musical taste is very diverse and is displayed in his love for the profession of DJing. King James got his start in the Milwaukee Music Scene in early 2000. It wasn’t until he attended school at Marquette University, that he went to a house party a friend was throwing, that he saw that it was the DJ that could make or break a party by; creating, elevating and sustaining the vibe of the party. His dreams have always consisted of being in a profession where he could inspire, create and help people have a good time. King James always knew that he wanted to be on the stage as a speaker, comedian, lawyer or entertainer, but that night he realized that DJing was his calling. The next day, he enthusiastically went to Mars Music store and bought his first DJ set up. With videos, books, and other media as his teachers and local DJs as his guides, he has been constantly evolving his skills to meet and exceed what his fans expect of him. King James began his humble career as a mobile jock, providing entertainment for house parties, Sorority and Fraternity events and throwing his own events. Later in his career, King James added weddings and high school events to his repertoire by linking up with a local musician he met while working at Guitar Center. It was through this musician that King James would meet the right people to help him reach the next level in his DJ Career. Currently, DJ King James tours with the Award – Winning Wisconsin cover band, “The Toys”, and has also toured with “Home of the Brave”, a local hip-hop band. You can catch DJ King James at his weekly residencies around town or with The Toys band at a festival or club in the city.
