Avelino Junior Figueroa Rodríguez, known professionally as Lápiz Conciente, is widely regarded as a pioneer of hip hop in the Dominican Republic. He earned a Gold Record for the single "Si No Te Quisiera", won awards at the Latin Music Italian Awards, received a Latin Grammy nomination in 2017 for Best Urban Song, and signed with Sony Music Latin in 2016.
