There are 2 bands called 'Fifth Column'
1 - Fifth Column is an all-women experimental post punk band from Toronto, which came about during the early 1980s. Originally the group had been known as Second Unit, but they took the name Fifth Column after a military manoeuvre by Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War, in which nationalist insurrectionists within besieged Republican Madrid, called 'the fifth column', would aid the four columns (north, south, east and west) outside the perimeters.
2 - The current picture on last.fm is of the Dutch band, coming from Haarlem. They play Hardcore/punk. This is NOT the riot grrrl band.
Hello, not sure when the last comment was posted, but the current picture on March 7 2009 is definitely Fifth Column the "riot grrrl" band from Toronto; the black and white image featuring Caroline Azar, Beverly Breckinridge and G.B. Jones was photographed by Jena von Brucker, lead singer of Human Ashtrays and star of two G.B. Jones movies The Lollipop Generation and The Yo-Yo Gang. The music attributed to them in Last FM's "Fifth Column Radio" however, is definitely not the same band. Listen at Last.fm
