Fran Lebowitz (born October 27, 1950) is an American author, public speaker, cultural critic, and actor known for her sardonic social commentary. She published the essay collections Metropolitan Life (1978) and Social Studies (1981) and was the subject of Martin Scorsese's documentary Public Speaking (2010) and the Netflix series Pretend It's a City (2021).
