We are Stone Iris, a new-blues rock band out of Edmonton, Alberta. With our signature slow-burning, big-hearted sound, we're all about the groove. We're out to find that connection, a real magic, a higher experience. Our mission is to illuminate, and put a sound and rhythm to what's already there, inside all of us. A raw reflection of the vibe within. We are unabashedly addicted to this whole band thing – playing, writing and performing our music – which we've been evolving and growing since we were young, star-eyed music fans fresh out of high school. With an unwavering determination to write loads of meaningful songs and become a travelling band we moved in together after high school and, since then, have toured our homeland in the rain, snow and sun, from Vancouver to Toronto more than half a dozen times. We've taken our live show throughout the entire United States, from coast to coast on three separate, two-month stints. We've released seven albums, been nominated for multiple Edmonton Music Awards, received steady local FM radio play and have found our way into the hearts and minds of thousands of wonderful people along the way. We have done all of this as a completely independent, self-sustaining band. Our sound has echoed throughout country roadhouses, big city clubs, the streets, Hip Hop Open mic nights, college parties and blues jams. From Vancouver to Toronto, Seattle To Nashville, from California to the Carolinas, we have laid it all down, and all our way. Infectiously edgy and brutally honest, our sound is steeped in emotion and grit. Stone Iris brings a new meaning to the word classic. There's no one else like us.
Stone Iris: new blues rock. Music from the inside, out.
The band: El Niven - Guitars and Vocals- is a lover of the rhythm and riff. With a powerful and soothing voice, he packs value into every word he sings. Garret Niven - Guitars and Vocals - has developed his own strong style of bittersweet six string magic. He blends vocals with El, layering meaning to well-penned lyrics. Drummer Jeff Burwash, is the machine behind the machine. The bones of the groove and the pulse of it all. Grande National: Stone Iris's latest release, Grande National, was recorded while on tour at Deadbird Studios in Louisville, Kentucky. The album has garnered much attention from media and music lovers. Alan cross, internationally acclaimed music reviewer said of one tune, "This song is so infectious, it's ridiculous." Stone Iris was featured in the Edmonton Journal, and was Sonic102.9 Band Of The Month for March 2013.
