Luther Allison began performing in Chicago clubs in the 1950s and released his debut album Love Me Mama in 1969. He spent much of the 1970s and 1980s building a following in Europe before returning to the U.S. in the 1990s with the Alligator Records album Soul Fixin' Man, earning several W.C. Handy Awards. He died in 1997 and was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1998.
