Martha Wainwright has released three full-length studio albums, various EPs, a live album of Edith Piaf songs, a soundtrack to the Canadian television series "Trauma," and tours extensively all across the globe. Her latest album, “Come Home To Mama,” was heralded by Mojo Magazine as a "substantial and brilliantly sung career best,” and follows her two previous releases, “I Know You’re Married But I’ve Got Feelings too” and “Martha Wainwright.”
She has also crossed over into film/TV, performing in Martin Scorsese's film "The Aviator," and acting in the acclaimed HBO miniseries "Olive Kitteridge.” Martha will soon cross into the literary world with a memoir entitled, “Stories I Might Regret Telling You” for Flatiron Books, an imprint of Macmillan Publishing.
Martha was born in New York City to folk legends Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, and is the sister of singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright. Raised in Montreal, she spent her childhood immersed in music, taking the first step of her own recording career in 1998 when she contributed the song "Year of the Dragon" to her mother and aunt's album The McGarrigle Hour. The same year, she started singing back-up for her brother, both live and on record.
Since then, she has consistently developed her craft and carved out her own unmistakable identity in the music world, collaborating with such luminaries as Pete Townshend and Donald Fagen.
