About
Mephiskapheles was a third wave ska band based in New York. Formed by roommates drummer Mikal Reich and guitarist Brendog Tween, the lineup included many people before settling on the group that recorded God Bless Satan, an album that sold close to 200,000 copies. Originally called "Skatterbrains," their later name is a portmanteau of "ska" and "Mephistopheles", of Goethe's Faust. As their name suggests, their lyrics are often playfully Satanic in nature. The band has since broken up.
