Michael Eckroth is an American pianist, arranger, and composer who co-wrote, arranged, and served as pianist for the mambo big band Orquesta Akokán. He was nominated for a Grammy for Orquesta Akokán’s self-titled 2018 album and has performed with artists including John Scofield and Ron McClure. Eckroth holds a Ph.D. researching Cuban piano solos and has taught on the jazz faculty at Dartmouth College and Florida International University.
