Miki Yamanaka is a Japanese pianist and composer based in New York City who moved to New York in 2012 and took a compositional residency at the Kennedy Center in 2015. She has released multiple albums as a leader including Miki (2018), Stairway to the Stars (2021), Shades of Rainbow (2023), and Chance (2024), and has recorded with notable musicians such as Mark Turner and Orlando le Fleming. She is known for performing in a kimono as a tribute to her mother.
