About
Payton Smith has a passion for music that has driven astonishing accomplishments over the last few years. This down home southern boy from Louisiana has dreamed of becoming a recording artist since his first performance…captivating an audience with an acoustic version of Zac Brown Band’s “Colder Weather”.
Performing at school, church, and for family and friends helped inspire Payton's dream of becoming an artist, and led him to write his first song at the age of 13. Less than a year later, while on a family vacation in Nashville, TN, his destined journey would begin. Following his heart and insisting on performing for any would be listeners in the atrium of the downtown Hilton Hotel, Payton gathered a crowd as his voice echoed throughout the building. His makeshift performance that evening led to an opportunity to play his songs for renowned producer, Buddy Cannon.
Cannon, a hit songwriter and producer who has produced numerous platinum records for Kenny Chesney, conveyed his belief that Payton was a special talent. Just like that, his adventure began! During the next few months of frequent round-trips to Nashville with a family of six, including his three younger brothers, Buddy began introducing Payton to the Nashville songwriting community.
Payton had offers being presented within those first several months at the tender age of 14.
Three years later, now living in Nashville with his family, Payton is a senior in high school and works hard at balancing school, time with friends and family, and his passion for music. At 17, with a distinguished creative team and famed music business executives on his side, Payton is poised to bring his music to fans. His soulful vocals, distinct song style, and dynamic performances are sure to have listeners feeling his passion and yearning for more.
