Brian Edward Cox is an English particle physicist, author and broadcaster who began his career as a keyboardist in bands (notably Dare and later D:Ream) before earning a PhD and becoming a professor of particle physics at the University of Manchester. He is best known for presenting high-profile BBC science series and arena-scale live shows, and has been recognised with major honours for science communication, including the Royal Society Michael Faraday Prize and appointment to the Order of the British Empire.
