Sean James Donnelly performs and records as SJD and has released multiple albums since 1999. His album Elastic Wasteland won the 2013 Taite Music Prize and he formed the group The Bellbirds in 2009 while continuing to release and produce records and soundtrack work. He was awarded the Mozart Fellowship at the University of Otago in 2022 and 2023.
