About
Formed in the late 1970s, Shooting Star became the first American group signed to Virgin Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1980, earning national exposure on album-oriented rock radio. They placed several singles on the Billboard charts in the early 1980s, toured with major acts, and have continued performing through lineup changes after the death of founding member Van McLain in March 2018. The band was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
