Spirit

Formed in 1967, Spirit released their debut album Spirit (1968) and the follow-up The Family That Plays Together, which included the single "I Got a Line on You" and reached the Billboard Top 30. Their 1970 album Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus and other early records drew critical attention and have been reissued; Spirit's recordings have also been sampled and covered by later artists. Guitarist Randy California died in 1997.
