Formed by Brendan B. Brown in 1995, Wheatus broke through with their 2000 single "Teenage Dirtbag", which became an international hit and helped their self-titled debut achieve platinum sales in the UK. The band left major-label dealings in the 2000s to release music independently on their Montauk Mantis imprint and have continued touring and releasing music into the 2020s.
