Formed in 1963 in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, The Whispers are a long-running American vocal group known for hits such as "And the Beat Goes On" (1979) and "Rock Steady" (1987). They signed to SOLAR Records in the late 1970s, earned multiple RIAA gold and platinum albums, and have been honored by industry halls of fame and lifetime-achievement awards.
