About
Ogun Sanlisoy is a defining powerhouse of Turkish rock and heavy metal. With a career spanning over three decades, his unique blend of hard-hitting rock riffs, powerful raw vocals, and deep emotional storytelling has cemented him as a true pioneer of the Anatolian rock and metal scenes. Sanlısoy’s musical journey took a massive leap forward in 1992 when he joined Pentagram (known as Mezarkabul internationally) as their lead vocalist. He fronted the legendary metal band during one of their most groundbreaking chapters, performing lead vocals on the highly influential 1992 album, Trail Blazer. His raw, dynamic performance style earned him consecutive “Best Male Rock Vocalist of the Year” honors from major Turkish music publications and established him as one of the most recognizable voices in the country’s rock underground.
In 1995, desiring to steer his music toward Turkish lyrics and explore a broader rock sound, Sanlısoy departed Pentagram to pursue a solo career. During this transition, he also collaborated heavily with other major names of the era, notably serving as a key composer, instrumentalist, and supervisor on Ozlem Tekin’s legendary debut album Kime Ne.
He launched his solo discography with his debut album Korkma in 1999, followed by the self-titled O Gun (2004). His solo work saw him seamlessly combine traditional Anatolian rock roots with modern alternative metal. Sanlısoy went on to capture the hearts of the broader Turkish public with iconic, chart-topping hits like: “Saydım” a timeless rock anthem that remains a staple of Turkish rock history, “Pencere” demonstrating his profound songwriting and acoustic depth, “Dayanamam” a massive, beloved duet with Özlem Tekin.
Over the years, Sanlisoy has released a string of highly acclaimed solo albums (including Uc, Ben, and Sen Uyurken), while also returning to collaborate with his former Pentagram bandmates for milestone anniversary acoustic projects and massive live shows. Today, whether performing intimate acoustic sets or headlining major festivals, Ogun Sanlisoy continues to deliver the electrifying, soulful energy that has inspired generations of Turkish rock musicians and fans alike.
