Known as “The Queen of Ranchera Music” and “The Voice of Mexico,” Aida Cuevas is a chart topping Mariachi singer and the only woman of her genre to win both a Latin GRAMMY® and GRAMMY® Award!

Having begun her career in 1975, she has been touring the globe since her teens. Her vocal range and expressiveness have captivated audiences worldwide, and her collaborative albums have given her an iconic place in Mexican pop culture. Join us to celebrate the legend in October.

Featuring the ICONIC Flor de Toloache, an all-female mariachi band based in New York City and founded by Mireya Ramos and Shae Fiol in 2008.

Flor de Toloache, the Latin GRAMMY®-winning and two-time GRAMMY®-nominated group lead by Mireya Ramos and Shae Fiol, has revolutionized mariachi with fearless artistry, magnetic vocals, and genre-blending brilliance. Founded in 2008 as New York City’s first all-women mariachi, the group began with traffic-stopping performances in subways, dive bars, and music clubs—quickly rising to national acclaim with appearances on NPR’s Tiny Desk, the White House, and the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Linda Ronstadt.

Known for fusing tradition with modernity, Flor de Toloache has collaborated with legendary artists including Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Miguel, Mon Laferte, and Natalia Lafourcade. Their genre-defying sound has electrified audiences at iconic festivals such as Coachella, Austin City Limits, Osheaga, Montreal Jazz Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Their magnetism also garnered them a recurring role as themselves on Apple TV’s Little Voice, created by J.J. Abrams and Sara Bareilles, where they performed original songs and brought mariachi to mainstream television.

Internationally, their tours have spanned the U.S., Mexico, Colombia, India, Belgium, Spain, Germany, France, Lithuania, Japan, and New Zealand—sharing mariachi with the world while challenging expectations at every turn. Their discography—Mariachi Flor de Toloache (2014), Las Caras Lindas (2017), Indestructible (2019), Florecita Rock (Era) (2022), Motherflower (2022), and Motherflower en NY (2024)—has earned accolades from Pitchfork, Billboard, Rolling Stone, NPR, and Oprah Magazine. With Las Caras Lindas, they became the first all-women group to win Best Ranchero Album at the Latin GRAMMYs; with Motherflower, they became the only independent act nominated in the Best Música Mexicana Album category at the 2024 GRAMMY® Awards.

Through bold storytelling, virtuosic performance, and unapologetic creativity, Flor de Toloache doesn’t just honor mariachi—they propel it forward with unstoppable force, captivating audiences across borders and generations.

Since its founding in 1980, Lehman Center for the Performing Arts has been deeply rooted in the cultural life of the Bronx. As the only theater of its size in the borough, with a capacity of more than 2,200 seats, Lehman Center provides Bronx residents with local, affordable access to high-quality live performances that entertain, educate, inspire, and celebrate the traditions of a multi-cultural community. In its 46-year tenure, The Center has been committed to bringing both local and national attention to historically underrepresented groups in the performing arts, such acts as Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald in the 80s and 90s, to the Janelle Monae Super Bowl halftime show in 2011. Lehman Center serves the artistic needs of the community through four distinct programming series: “Punchline,” “First Curtain,” “Bronx Music,” and “The Discovery Series,” with specific focus on youth programming, comedy, the musical heritage of the Bronx, and exposure to wider global cultures. These longstanding traditions underscore Lehman Center’s historic role as one of the Bronx’s most important cultural institutions, dedicated to preserving and uplifting diverse artistic heritage for all.

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. is supported, in part, by public funds through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council and the Bronx Delegation.

Additional funding is provided by the New York State Council on the Arts with support from the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. We are thrilled to share that Goya Foods has agreed to renew their sponsorship for this season, which will help Lehman Center expand our reach to the community.

In addition, we have secured funding from the Howard Gilman Foundation to help grow our programming. The 2026-2027 season is also made possible through sponsorships by Con Edison, Havana Café, Friends of Lehman Center, and our cherished audience members.
