...INCOMING TRANSMISSION...
SIGNAL ACQUIRED. DECRYPTING. BOOK CLUB RADIO FESTIVAL #2: For two nights in October, a corner of Brooklyn becomes something else entirely.
Two warehouses. One is an underground cantina on a planet at the edge of known space. The other is a crash-landed spaceship that never made it home. Between them, a full alien night market stretches into the dark with street food, performers, and things you would not expect to find on planet Earth.
Over twenty dance music artists are traveling in from across the galaxy, every set built specifically for these rooms. Thousands of dancers will pass through Brooklyn Roots Collective and Silo across the weekend, dressed for a planet that does not appear on any map. Gates open at 5pm. The music does not stop until 4am. Eleven hours. Two dance floors. One night market. No phones.
That last part matters. No phones on the dance floor is the law of this outpost and it always has been. Not as a gimmick. As a belief. When the phone goes away you become present in the moment.
Last October we opened the first festival. Marshall Jefferson, Felix da Housecat, Tinzo + Jojo played. Artists flew in from across the world.
Thousands of people showed up in costume. There was a carnival, fire breathers, funnel cake, and an energy in those rooms that took days to shake. People stayed until the very end. Watch the whole thing here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-TQY69MwxBR1U0lG_EirFjy4z0ErJ3RV
