FÉLIX LEMERLE is a jazz guitarist & composer living in Brooklyn, New York.Growing up in his native Paris, he was exposed to music at an early age thanks to his father, a jazz bass player. Initially trained as a classical pianist, he shifted his attention to guitar and jazz music in his teens, and started performing in France and Europe in various clubs and festivals. After graduating from the CRR de Paris with a Degree in Jazz & Improvised Music, he moved to New York City as a Fulbright Scholar to complete his Master in Jazz Performance at CUNY Queens College. There he quickly established himself on the scene, performing, recording and touring with some of the foremost musicians in the world. Recently, he joined the Artist Diploma in Jazz Studies at Juilliard.A highly in-demand guitarist, Félix has performed internationally in venues & festivals such as Carnegie Hall, Chris' Jazz Cafe, BLU Jazz+, Dirty Dog, Fat Cat, Jazz in Marciac, Sunset/Sunside, Duc des Lombards, Vibrato, The Nash, The Jazz Corner & Highlights in Jazz, sharing the stage with luminary musicians such as Jimmy Cobb, Freddie Redd, Buster Williams, Ari Roland, Tardo Hammer, Steve Turre, Brian Lynch, Chris Byars, Peter & Will Anderson, Don Hahn, Ned Goold, Dominick Farinacci, John Mosca, Veronica Swift, Cyrille Aimée, Chuck Redd, Michael Valeanu, Ed Howard, Scott Robinson, René Urtreger, Jon-Erik Kellso, Joe Cohn, Luigi Grasso, etc.Félix works regularly in New York with his own groups, including the collaborative band RAISE FOUR. He has won the 1st prize at the Eddie Lang Guitar Contest 2012 in Italy, and the 2nd prize at the Jarek Śmietana Guitar Competition 2015 in Poland (jury included John Abercrombie, Mike Stern & Ed Cherry). Perhaps the most recorded bassist of his generation, Peter Washington has also played an integral part in two of the most important and highly praised jazz trios of the last 20 years, in addition to a who's who roster of jazz artists.Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1964, Washington attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he majored in English Literature and played in both the UC Symphony and the San Francisco Youth Symphony. In 1986, while performing in San Francisco with alto saxophonist John Handy, he was asked by Art Blakey to move to New York and join the seminal Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers.Washington remained with the Jazz Messengers from 1986 to 1989, and during this time was able to establish himself as a ubiquitous, first- call freelance bassist; a position he has occupied to this day.In the early 1990's Washington joined the Tommy Flanagan Trio , called by many the greatest trio in jazz, and remained until Flanagan's death, in 2002. For the past ten years he has been a member of the very highly acclaimed Bill Charlap Trio.In addition to these long- term commitments Washington has worked and recorded with an extremely large number of top- tier artists, of all generations. Master drum player Fukushi Tainaka is one of the best-known Japanese jazz musician of his generation and one of the most in-demand drum players on the international jazz scene. A longtime member of legendary alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson's group, Fukushi played alongside countless other prominent jazz artists, including trumpet legend Dizzy Girespie, Bill Hardman and Woody Shaw, guitarist George Benson and Randy Johnston, pianist Champian Fulton, Benny Green, Barry Harris and Junior Mance, organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, saxophonist Arnett Cobb, Junior Cook, Kenny Garrett, Jimmy Heath, James Moody, David" Fathead"' Newman and Frank Wess.During the past two decades, Fukushi has performed in most New York jazz venues, including Birdland, Black Duck, The Blue Note, Garage, Fat Cat, Smoke, Smalls, The Village Vanguard (and defunct club such as Sweet Basil, Fat Tuesday's, and The Village Gate), as well as playing at major concert halls, jazz clubs, and festivals all over the world.
