Tim Lin is a saxophonist originally currently based in New York City. He stays busy recording albums, performing, and practicing. His interests lie in being a student of the music and immersing himself in the language of bebop and modern jazz. David Kikoski is a pianist, composer, and arranger deeply rooted in the rich tradition of jazz. "The brilliant playing of David Kikoski just smokes. I can depend on him for so much." - Roy Haynes A highly regarded jazz pianist, Dave Kikoski emerged onto the New York jazz scene in the 1980s, quickly establishing himself as a go-to performer, collaborating with top musicians such as Roy Haynes, Bob Berg, Randy Brecker, and many others. Known for his adept post-bop style and spontaneous, swinging play, Kikoski has become a prominent figure in the jazz world. As a leader, Kikoski has released 20 albums, including "Presage" with Eddie Gomez and Al Foster (1989) and "Consequences" featuring Jeff "Tain" Watts and Christian McBride (2015). His two most recent albums, "Phoenix Rising" (2019) and "Sure Thing" (2021), were both released under High Note Records. In his role as an invaluable sideman, Kikoski has recorded and toured with luminaries such as Roy Haynes, Michael Brecker, John Scofield, Ravi Coltrane, Chris Potter, Dave Holland, Roy Hargrove, Donny McCaslin, Mike Stern, Chick Corea, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Toots Thielemans, Tom Harrell, Marcus Miller, Pat Martino, Jack Dejohnette, Billy Hart, and many others. A longstanding member of the prestigious Charles Mingus Big Band, co-leader of BeatleJazz, and a member of Opus Five, Kikoski is also part of the newly formed all-star collective called Something Else. Notably, as a member of the Charles Mingus Big Band, Kikoski achieved significant success by winning a 2011 Grammy Award with the ensemble for the Best Live Jazz Ensemble Album with "Live at the Jazz Standard." In 2001, he earned a Grammy nomination with Roy Haynes for the album "Birds of a Feather: A Tribute to Charlie Parker." It's worth highlighting that the Mingus Big Band, with Dave as a vital contributor, recently received a 2024 Grammy nomination for the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, recognizing their outstanding performance in “The Charles Mingus Centennial Session.” Originally from Washington, D.C., Ed Howard joined forces with the brilliant drummer Roy Haynes in the early 80's and has been featured on three discs created by the Haynes group, including the 1992 " Homecoming". Ed spent fifteen years as Haynes' bassist. Clifford Jordan is a tenor saxophonist who many modern jazz fans will asscociate with the intense bass playing of bandleader and composer Charles Mingus.Howard,undoubtedly influenced by the latter master, as would be any jazz bassist, also cities Jordan himself as a major teacher. Howard played in Jordan's own quartet from 1983 to 1992. It was in this context that the bassist had his first chance to record. " Dr Chicago"( Beehive records) A session that also featured pianist Jaki Byard, yet another of the Mingus alumni. A contrasting collaboration for the bassist has been his work with an ensemble lead by saxophonist Gary Thomas. This hip hop inspired group allowed Howard to demonstrate his musical versatility. Howard was also featured on Thomas' "Till We Have Faces" (JMT), affording the bassist his first chance to record with guitar giant Pat Metheny. In 2001, Howard got the chance to perform with jazz legends Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Ed performed with Mr. Hancock at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival and The San Francisco Jazz Festival with Mr. Shorter. It was during this time that the bassist was asked to share the bandstand with the legendary vocalist/pianist Shirley Horn. Howard spent three years performing with Ms. Horn, includind three recordings and many international concert dates. While playing with Ms. Horn Ed met the amazing vocalist and four time grammy nominated vocalist Karrin Allyson. Whom he continues to perform with and appears on her Concord records release " Round Midnight". Ed is also a longtime member of the great trumpeter Eddie Henderson group, of which he has appeared on nine recordings. Currently, Ed is appearing with groups led by Karrin Allyson, Steve Wilson, Victor Lewis,, David Kikoski. and many others. Nussbaum grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut and started to play drums at age 12 after studying piano for 5 years, also playing bass and saxophone as a teenager. He moved to New York City in 1975 to attend The Davis Center for Performing Arts at City College. While there he began working with Albert Dailey, Monty Waters, Joe Lee Wilson, Sheila Jordan and he played with Sonny Rollins in 1977 in Milwaukee. In 1978 he joined Dave Liebman's quintet and did his first European tour with John Scofield. During the early eighties he continued working with John Scofield in a celebrated trio with Steve Swallow. In 1983 he become a member of Gil Evans Orchestra and played with Stan Getz as well. He later joined Eliane Elias/Randy Brecker Quartet, Gary Burton, and Toots Thielemans. In 1987 he began touring with the Michael Brecker Quintet. In 1988 they recorded the Grammy winning "Don't Try This At Home" During 1992 he was part of the Carla Bley Big Band and that same year John Abercrombie hired him to complete his organ trio.Since then he has kept active in a wide variety of groups. Among them a recently formed quartet 'BANN' with Seamus Blake, Jay Anderson & Oz Noy, A co-op quartet "NUTTREE" with Abercrombie, Jerry Bergonzi & Gary Versace, The James Moody Quartet, 'We Three' w/ Dave Liebman & Steve Swallow, Eliane Elias Trio, 'Playing in Traffic' w/ Steve Swallow & Ohad Talmor and also busy maintaining an active freelance schedule. Adam has taught as an Adjunct professor at New York University, the New School and State University of New York at Purchase.
