Instituto Cervantes New York is a Spanish government cultural center at Amster Yard in Midtown East, hosting Spanish-language classes, film screenings, talks, and art exhibitions. The institute purchased and restored the historic Amster Yard complex in 1999 and officially opened the site on October 10, 2003; its facilities include a 114-seat auditorium and gallery spaces. Set in Turtle Bay near the UN and Midtown offices, it draws an international crowd for cultural programs.
