In 2001, two extraordinary friends from Hungary , Attila and Gyuszi decided to leave their country to try their luck in the New World . They combined their many years of bar experience from London and Hungary to open what was to be the best local bar in New York City. With just the shirts off their backs, they managed to construct an incredibly warm and cozy environment by hammering their fun spirit into every element of the bar; from the wood-burning fireplace to the vivid pictures on the walls.
When KEYBAR Manhattan opened its doors in October 2002, it quickly became a local favorite. In the next couple of years, KEYBAR continued to establish a strong presence in not only the East Village, but all five boroughs by winning several “Best of New York” awards on Citysearch and receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp!, Zagat and many other online city guides.
KEYBAR Manhattan is the home of the famous Rolo shot and many other delicious award-winning cocktails, martinis and shots created by owner/mixologist Attila, whose inspiration was to satisfy the most demanding palates. The other key to KEYBAR’s success is the great music played every day. By working with many talented up and coming DJs as well as established international DJs, KEYBAR provides a huge variety of musical styles and trends from the 80s 90s to the latest electronic and house music.
