About
The Cooper Union’s primary event space is the historic Great Hall in the Foundation Building, a landmark lecture and performance venue opened in 1858 that has hosted figures from Abraham Lincoln to contemporary artists and civic leaders. The hall is known for its intimate, raked seating, strong natural acoustics, and role in New York public discourse; a smaller, modern 200-seat Frederick P. Rose Auditorium sits across the street at 41 Cooper Square. Set at Astor Place/Cooper Square in the East Village, it’s walkable to restaurants, bars, and other cultural venues.
