The Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side is housed in the modernist Metropolitan Opera House, the world’s largest repertory opera house, which opened in 1966; its auditorium holds 3,975 including standing room and features Marc Chagall murals in the lobby. As the resident home for the Met’s grand productions and the annual summer season of American Ballet Theatre, it anchors the Lincoln Center campus amid other major arts venues and pre/post-show dining.
