Nick Biello

Hailed as "a brash new voice to New York's vibrant jazz scene," by AllAboutJazz.com, Nicholas Biello is developing a reputation as an exciting and artful musician.  At the young age of 5, Nick began studying the piano. At 8 years old he picked up the saxophone for the first time, and by that point, he knew that he wanted to be a musician. Nick was 12 when his father, a professional musician, took him under his wing. It was then that Nick began his career as a performer. After attending the Hartt School of Music, later graduating from Western Connecticut State University and receiving a merit scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music, he earned a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies. Now based in New York City, he is a professional saxophonist, keyboardist, composer, and educator. Nick has shared the stage with world-class artists, such as Slide Hampton, Cedar Walton, Rich Perry, Harvie S, John Benitez, Steve Davis, Barry Ries, Loren Stillman, Ingrid Jensen, Victor Bailey, Jovino Santos Nieto, Jaimoe Johnson (Allman Brothers), and Joe Beck, of Miles Davis fame. He has performed at the Pescara Jazz Festival and Bussi Jazz Festival in Italy, as well as the Litchfield Jazz Festival, the New Haven Jazz Festival, and the Blaine Jazz Festival. His studies with alto saxophone master Jackie McLean enriched him with the deepest appreciation for the jazz tradition. He has also studied with George Garzone, Steve Wilson, David Liebman, and Phil Markowitz. In demand as a composer and arranger, Nicholas has written arrangements that have been performed by world-class artists such as Stevie Wonder, Dave Koz, and Kelly Rowland. His work has been televised on networks such as ABC and ESPN, and heard in venues in Las Vegas, L.A., and New York City.  With experience in an array of educational environments, Nick is available as a group clinician or as a private teacher. He is an Instructor of Music at Naugatuck Valley College where he was twice awarded "Most Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member." He is currently a performing artist and clinician at the Blaine Jazz Festival in Washington, and is also a faculty member at the Music Conservatory of Westchester.
