Alan Daniel Maman, known professionally as The Alchemist, began his career in the early 1990s as one half of The Whooliganz before transitioning to production in the late 1990s and rising through work with Dilated Peoples and Mobb Deep. He has produced widely acclaimed collaborative albums (including Alfredo with Freddie Gibbs, which earned a Grammy nomination) and is regarded as one of the most influential producers in contemporary hip-hop.
