And each time, I'm even more inspired, humbled, and, quite frankly, terrified.” - Joshua RedmanOriginally from London, Alto Saxophonist/Composer Will Vinson moved to New York City in 1999, and has remained there ever since. Since his arrival, he has appeared and/or recorded with Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Jonathan Kreisberg, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Marcus Gilmore, Mark Turner, Chris Potter, Geoffrey Keezer, Lage Lund, Ari Hoenig, John Benitez, Seamus Blake, Alan Ferber Nonet, Aaron Parks, and many others. Will is a member of a number of leading New York ensembles, including drummer Ari Hoenig’s Quartet (Will is featured on Inversations and Seraphic, Ari’s CD’s on the Dreyfuss label,and Punk Bop – Live at Smalls, on Smalls Live) Lage Lund’s Quintet, Pedro Giraudo’s Mr. Vivo, an Argentine Jazz ensemble with 3 CD’s under its belt, and guitarist/composer Jonathan Kreisberg's Quintet and Quartet (The South Of Everywhere 2007, Shadowless 2010). Will has an international reputation as a leader and sideman. All About Jazz New York describes Will as playing “with a relentless force”. After a performance at the Pizza Express Soho in London, Jack Massarik (London Evening Standard) described Will as "the thinking man's alto saxophonist... Britain's Greg Osby", and John Fordham of the Guardian described a "superb solo of rugged leathery sounds turning into mellifluous high notes, his secure control and storming energy occasionally reminiscent of Bobby Watson." Time Out London calls will an "exciting young altoist with a lethal approach to writing and soloing”. Will has released 4 CD’s as a leader/composer. It’s For You (Sirocco Jazz, 2004) was described as “combining a thoughtful originality of conception with energy and fluidity of execution in very satisfying proportions” (Jazzwise magazine), and “an auspicious debut, an album that is as mature in its conception as it is in its execution” (All About Jazz New York).2010 saw the release of two CD's: The World (Through My Shoes), a live recording was described as "marvelous" by Downbeat and "exhilarating, cascading... outstanding" by Jazz Times. Stockholm Syndrome (Criss Cross Records) came out in September 2010.Will’s 2nd CD, Promises (NineteenEight Records), was described as “impressive” and “coolly restrained” by Nate Chinen of the New York Times.Will has appeared with his own group and as a sideman in the USA, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and Japan. His musical experience has not been limited to Jazz. Will is a member of Rufus Wainwright’s band, which toured for 10 months in 2007/8. Glenn Zaleski is one of the most in-demand pianists on the New York City jazz scene. Originally from Boylston, MA, Glenn has made a name for himself playing with the likes of Ravi Coltrane, Cécile McLorin Salvant, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Yotam Silberstein, Ken Peplowski, Lage Lund, Ari Hoenig, and many more. His latest album is "Star Dreams“, a trio album from Sunnyside Records featuring Dezron Douglas and Willie Jones. His previous album, "Solo Vol. 2”, a solo piano album of standards, was recorded during the pandemic, and is the second release from his own Stark Terrace Music label. His previous release, “The Question”, from July 2020, was released on Sunnyside Records, and features his quintet. From this album, his original “BK Bossa Nova” has nearly two million plays on Apple Music. "Live at Jazz Standard" (Capri 2019), features his long-standing co-led trio, Stranahan/Zaleski/Rosato, in a live set the legendary NYC club. One year prior, "Solo Vol. 1", was released in early 2018 - his first solo piano album, as well as the first release from his own label Stark Terrace Music. In 2017 he released his second album for Sunnyside Records, "Fellowship", prompting All About Jazz to note, "Glenn Zaleski has quickly become one of the most important pianists of his generation and it's easy to see why." His debut album, "My Ideal", was released in March of 2015, also on Sunnyside, and received critical acclaim: Downbeat Magazine named it "sublime", Jazz Times called it, "an engaging set by a talent worth watching," and the New York Times named the record a "strong statement," praising its "fluent but unhurried sense of phrase". Glenn has also released two popular albums with the collective Stranahan/Zaleski/Rosato: "Limitless" (Capri, 2013), and "Anticipation" (Capri, 2011), as well as a duo record with his brother, saxophonist Mark Zaleski. ("Duet Suite", 2010) In 2011, Glenn was a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition, as well as a finalist for the 2011 APA Cole Porter Fellowship in Jazz. He attended the Brubeck Institute Fellowship program in Stockton, CA from 2005-2007, and then finished his undergraduate studies at The New School in 2009. From 2009-2011, while working towards his graduate degree at NYU, Glenn was also on NYU faculty, teaching a variety of classes and private students. "An excellent young pianist notable for both his harmonic insight and his rhythmic composure..." - NY Times "Glenn Zaleski has a sound." - NPR.org "A perfect balance of excitement and coherence..." - Jazz Times "His playing is something to behold..." - Jazz Journal Originally from New Zealand, Matt Penman moved to the States in 1994 to attend Berklee College of Music, and to New York in 1995 where he maintains an international performing, recording and teaching schedule as one of jazz musics most in-demand musicians.He is an established member of the SFJazz Collective, an 8-piece composers collective devoted to presenting the original works of its members as well as arrangements by the band of a different jazz greats work every year. The Collective is in its sixth year and currently features Joe Lovano, Dave Douglas and Stefon Harris. He also performs regularly with John Scofield; in his trio-plus-horns formation, and in a quartet with Joe Lovano. He is also a member of Nils Wograms Root 70, a drummerless trio with Hayden Chisholm and John Taylor, and a new collaborative quartet featuring Joshua Redman. Other past collaborators include Kurt Rosenwinkel, Kenny Werner, Chris Cheek, Seamus Blake, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Guillermo Klein, Rebecca Martin, Nicholas Payton, Fred Hersch and Madeleine Peyroux.He has mentored in many workshops throughout Europe and in 2007 was an Artist in Residence at the Brubeck Institute in Stockton, California, and was on the faculty of the 2009 Banff Workshop for Creative and Improvised Music.His own projects include the 1998 co-led album Flipside on Naxos, then in 2001 The Unquiet, and 2008 Catch of the Day both on the Barcelona label Fresh Sound. He also features on about 85 CDs on various labels. Obed Calvaire (Drums), a native of Miami, is a graduate of the New World School of the Arts, a public high school in Miami-Dade County designed for artistically talented students. Mr. Calvaire was a candidate for a master of music degree in jazz drum set at Manhattan School of Music and has recently graduated in May 2005. He received his bachelor's degree from Manhattan School of Music in 2003, completing the undergraduate degree requirements in three years. He is in the studio of John Riley. Mr. Calvaire has performed with major jazz artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Danilo Perez, Bobby Watson, Mark Murphy, Stefon Harris, Josh Roseman, Eric Reed, Buster Williams and the Clayton Brothers Quintet. He has also performed with large ensembles such as the Village Vanguard Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band and the Bob Mintzer Big Band. From 2002-04, Mr. Calvaire was a member of the Steve Turre Sextet. Performing with Lizz Wright, he has participated in major jazz festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival at The Hague, the Vitoria Jazz Festival in Spain and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.
