John Webber is an American double?bass player who studied at Northern Illinois University and Roosevelt University after switching to upright bass as a teenager. He moved to New York City in 1987 and has since been a prolific sideman on numerous major jazz recordings and a long?time contributor to hard?bop ensembles.
